Which wilwood brake kit to get? From Midwest-124 or Vick's
Hi all
Wondering if anyone can recommend the better kit? I am assuming the calipers are the same but the rotars offered look different, can someone give a crash-coarse in the thermodynamics involved in heat generation/dissipation? What is the better rotar to buy and why? From what I can see one rotar is vented while the other is drilled and slotted. Thanks

Personally Im a midwest fan for parts. Vented is better.

The Whoa kit uses stock solid rotors, although drilled and slotted versions are available. The Vicks kit uses Uno turbo rotors, which are vented, but I don't know if they are slotted and drilled too.
Vented rotors disipate heat better than a solid rotor. The slots and drilled holes disipate hot gas generated by the pads. The gas acts as a buffer between the pad and rotor, the slots or holes let the gas escape so the pad makes better contact with the rotor surface.
On a solid rotor the drilled holes don't do much as there is a pad on each side and the gas can't escape, but the slots do disipate the gas. Drilled and slotted works better on a vented rotor as the gas can escape into the vented area.
Both kits use fixed Wilwood 4 piston calipers, which aside from the rotor width are esentially the same.

depends on whether you want to stop "very fast" or "really fast". Also depends on how much you want to pay in order to do that.

Thanks everyone for the input. I just saw this on Ebay by a company called "Centric" or "Eagle Brakes" wondering if anyone has any experience with the outfit? At $148 for 4-vented/drilled and slotted rotors plus pads all around.....probably too good to be true???????????????? Hmmm?

I don't think you are going to get "vented" rotors, more like "drilled and slotted". It looks like they just used a picture from another vehicle for the auction, (no way those are Fiat pads) and like Mark said, the stock calipers aren't wide enough for a "vented" rotor.

i wonder if the punto calipers would be a easy adaptation. havent looked into that. but have looked into the rotors.

I only asked because vented rotors were mentioned, but I assumed you were substituting these for the Whoa kit and retaining the stock calipers. So if you're using Wilwood, are you making your own caliper brackets and brake hoses?
Are you expecting much braking difference while using the stock size rotor?

Late arrival also.
I changed over from stock brakes to the Whoa setup with drilled and slotted rotors. Put matching (but stock diameter) rotors on the rear, with the original stock rear calipers.
At the same time I bolted on a set of 15" Serpent Auto Type 3.5 wheels, it my car show on there site, and put on a full set of 205/50ZR-15 BFGoodrich g-Force Super Sport tires.
The setup looks great and works even better.
With all that rubber on the road and the Whoa's willwoods it really does 'Whoa' when you need it to.
Most secure I have ever felt in my Fiat 124 on damp pavement!
