What year is that engine? Is that the cast aluminum Vortec or the cast iron ( marine ) block? How are you getting the 300 hp? I thought the stock with a 4 barrel was closer to 150hp?
My engine has a highly modified hydraulic roller camshaft setup that enables me to put out that kind of power. The engine has been bored .030 over and fitted with flat top pistons meant for a small block Chevy v8. That with the vortec heads gives me about 10.5:1 compression. The heads have been beefed up with screw in studs and the spring seats have been pocketed to eliminate the coil bind can that occur with the high lift cam i am using. The cam is a hydraulic roller setup with roller lifters and rockers with roller pivots and roller tips. The cam has .525" valve lift at 290° adv. duration. The intake is an edelbrock #2114 and the carb is a Carter AFB 625 cfm 4 barrel. All of that, headers and 2.5" exhaust is what is producing the power...
