I am liking your setup, consider it stolen

You both have good points - with this setup, you need to make inlets for cold air, but it will be under pressure, rather than the slight vacuum created by the stock "down below" air box.Leesfer wrote:Pope has got a good point... is the increased air intake worth the downfall of having to take in that warm air?pope wrote:Can someone explain to me the idea behind this conversion? I think that it is for ease and looks more than any real function. I look at the small square inlet and outlet on the airflow meter and think the old filter had more than enough volume to produce air for the airflow meter. I think this allows one to remove the bracket on the fender. But this new filter is more apt to draw in warmer engine air then the old system. I know the airflow meter has a temp. probe in front of the gate that measures the temp of the air coming in, so keeping the air as cold as possible would be a priority. It seems that with the K&N filter being on the exhaust side, it has more of a change of drawing in more warm air than the previous solution, which may not be the best solution, but I think better than the new retrofit. Is there something I am missing?
FiatS2000, Your kits look really nice and professional.
being that the original air box took in air from down below...

I have what you are looking for all inONE
great kit no need to fabricate anything.
Make your Fiat's engine bay look awesome & improve air flow at the same time. Go from the original flat FI air filter configuration to a cone filter with this kit. Kit includes the air flow mounting bracket, filter mounting flange and hardware to secure the AFM to the bracket. What is NOT included is the filter element & gasket (between AFM & filter mounting flange). The gasket can be made from senor safe liquid gasket compound. It is designed to use the K&N RR-28 series cone filter element however any filter will work providing the inlet flange is 2.75" & close to the RR-28 dims..
The mounting bracket is laser cut from 3/16" thick steel, formed & powder coated gloss black. Structurally over designed for the application.
The filter mounting flange is fabricated from aluminum plate & tube, certainly a quality piece.
Several have bought the kit and said they liked it VERY much. The quality is GREAT. The application is simple and different from the "other performance staks" on the market. It doesn't require the use of the headder heat shield stud to secure the AFM
The cost for all this FUN is ONLY $46.00 + shipping
If you would like one so you will be ready for the Spring please let me know & I will send you a photo & ship info (about a 5# carton from zip 17408).
Thanks much Gus
