No problem, try not to use a hose bigger than 2.5 inches in diameter.

I also installed a heat-shield, and know the temp gauge is always below 190 used to be pass 195.

I look at the small square inlet and outlet on the airflow meter and think the old filter had more than enough volume to produce air for the airflow meter. I think this allows one to remove the bracket on the fender. But this new filter is more apt to draw in warmer engine air then the old system. I know the airflow meter has a temp. probe in front of the gate that measures the temp of the air coming in, so keeping the air as cold as possible would be a priority. It seems that with the K&N filter being on the exhaust side, it has more of a change of drawing in more warm air than the previous solution, which may not be the best solution, but I think better than the new retrofit. Is there something I am missing?
FiatS2000, Your kits look really nice and professional.
Pope has got a good point... is the increased air intake worth the downfall of having to take in that warm air?

being that the original air box took in air from down below...
You both have good points - with this setup, you need to make inlets for cold air, but it will be under pressure, rather than the slight vacuum created by the stock "down below" air box.

I was able to put a Brady Jones heat shield and K&N Apollo Universal Closed Air Intake System on the end of my AFM. The Apollo setup breaths through a 4" hole just to the right of the passenger side headlight (if you are looking at the car). The rest of my air intake tube is covered with a Thermo-Tec heat shield sleeve.

I'm still working on a solution to protect the AFM with Thermo-Tec as well.

The pictures aren't great but they're better than not having an pictures at all.

When I removed my front bumpers I used the pass side parking light hole as a cold air intake. I used a 4" alum dryer vent hose and cut a hole into the engine bay right in front of my K & N cone filter.

What do you guys think of this? It's two homemade ThermoTech heat shields that fit over my AFM and the elbow joint to my Apollo filter.

I thought it was smart to keep incoming air as cool as possible, and the AFM sits very close to my header. My fear is that it cooks my AFM, my hope is that the cool air traveling through the intake will keep everything inside my heat shield from melting.

The Apollo filter is connected to a flexible hose that leads to a hole in the grill behind the bumper overrider. In the photo the whole looks to be behind the turn signal but it's actually directly behind the overrider.

or you could drill the holes you asked about earlier ..... it works and works well .... just drill the bottom and fender side of the box

Due to recent budget cuts and the rising cost of electricity, gas, and oil, we have decided to turn off the light at the end of the tunnel. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hi all! Does anyone have a airbox plate and bracket for sale to run the K&N cone filter. My stock air box is in horrible condition. Thanks!

I have what you are looking for all in :!: ONE :!: great kit no need to fabricate anything.
Make your Fiat's engine bay look awesome & improve air flow at the same time. Go from the original flat FI air filter configuration to a cone filter with this kit. Kit includes the air flow mounting bracket, filter mounting flange and hardware to secure the AFM to the bracket. What is NOT included is the filter element & gasket (between AFM & filter mounting flange). The gasket can be made from senor safe liquid gasket compound. It is designed to use the K&N RR-28 series cone filter element however any filter will work providing the inlet flange is 2.75" & close to the RR-28 dims..
The mounting bracket is laser cut from 3/16" thick steel, formed & powder coated gloss black. Structurally over designed for the application.
The filter mounting flange is fabricated from aluminum plate & tube, certainly a quality piece.
Several have bought the kit and said they liked it VERY much. The quality is GREAT. The application is simple and different from the "other performance staks" on the market. It doesn't require the use of the headder heat shield stud to secure the AFM
The cost for all this FUN is ONLY $46.00 + shipping
If you would like one so you will be ready for the Spring please let me know & I will send you a photo & ship info (about a 5# carton from zip 17408).
Thanks much Gus

Please reach out to me if still available. The old ones begin to crack and become an issue w vacuum

I finally got mine setup - it was an easy adaptation of my old '79 Spider air cleaner and cold air intake to my 32/36 DFEV. Almost ridiculously easy,...!
Wish I had skipped the purchase of the usual, chrome "Meaner Cleaner",...
