Thanks Matt, thanks Mark.
...Big dumb mistake on my part, I was worried about air filter housing clearance.

Hi guys,
Before I go nuts and start overnighting spacers and gaskets from the four corners:
Are we sure?
IAP pairs the DFEV with the 12mm spacer in their catalog.
Thanks,
Mark

"Are we sure?"
Absolutly sure. I just had a 32/36 last week, compared it against a 32ADFA and installed them both on the same stock manifold with stock length manifold studs and took measurements.
1 1/8" spacer would be ideal with thin paper gaskets, 1 inch spacer would be good with the 1/8" thick fiber gasket that usually comes with a rebuild kit.
If you stack two 10mm spacers the stock length intake manifold studs will protrude above the carb base plate higher than usuall. If you look closely at the carb, three of the four studs will not be an issue, however there is a tight clearance height around one of the studs due to the choke housing or the accelrator pump housing. That one stud may need to be shortened.

Joe, no one makes a 1 1/8" spacer. Closest is a 1 inch from Jason Miller at Millers Mule. I think a 1 inch spacer with gaskets on both sides would be close enough without issues.

What I used for a spacer was the throttle plate from my original ADHA. I tapped the holes that the trottle plate shafts went through, and put bolts there. I sealed them with both epoxy and loctite. I sealed any other holes with epoxy. It's worked great for over 10 years. But I'm wary of the epoxy. I'm getting ready to replace it with two spacers.

I've also used the base plate from the adha carbs. One advantage is that you gain some vacuum ports which can be handy when reconnecting the emission equipment

the adfa and adha are different. 32adfa and 28/32 adha
the adha is the weak anemic carb used on the 79 and 80 carb'd cars

yes and the holes are smaller
so if i use a base off the adfa
it will be the same as the adfa
responce wise

Hi,
Thank you all for the guidance.
I've been persuaded the path to personal enlightenment lies through shorter mounting studs.
...Look for my next thread, "How the hell do I remove these %#^$*_&?"@¿8+! carb mounting studs?" sometime Saturday afternoon.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi Joe,124JOE wrote:the taller spacer give you more low end tourqe
I have heard and considered that, I don't see it being a controlling quality; 4-2-1 added torque, free-er breathing carb and filter will add torque, don't consider another 12mm of plenum to be significant.
Thanks,
Mark
