Plugging the Choke Coolant Nipple
Hi,
Having secured a workspace for an upcoming weekend I'm preparing to swap my 78's ADHA for a DFEV.
I have all at hand and in place save one thing: Plugging the cylinder head choke coolant tube nipple (I have one of Mark's SS heater pipes without the choke tap).
Joe was helpful to suggest a workable solution, plug a section of hose with silicone, but my previous experiences with the stuff around the house leave me with little confidence in the material as a long term solution.
How have others solved this problem?

black RTV silicone gasket maker
wont peel off like cheap silicone
i fill one end of a hose then trim when dry
put it on the nipple and secure with clamp

If it were me, I'd use a short piece of hose with a bolt/hose clamp on the end of it. Tightening a clamp around a bolt gives me a little more confidence than relying on a plug of RTV which I'm sure has worked fine for Joe.

I used a small rubber cap and then secured it with a small hose clamp.

If the intake manifold is removed from the car you can simply unscrew the fitting and find the appropriate threaded plug. I haven't found a rubber cap that I'd be comfortable with, they are usually only for vacumn or emissions. The bolt in the hose is by default the best solution.

I got my plug from the local Autozone store. But I like Matt's solution better -- unscrew the fitting and replace with a screw in plug. That is what I am going to do.

I haven't been under the hood in a while, why 'intake out of the car'? Isn't the tap on the head?

That fitting is screwed into the intake manifold. The reason to have the manifold removed is that the fitting is in a hard to reach area and you might not have proper acces to remove it. Otherwise just use the hose and bolt solution.
