I was able to pry off the old decrepit cold start injector (was saying valve but its more an 'injector'). easy to take off, very little oil spills/or sprays when you take it off.
So far the replacement part seems to have fixed part of the problem.... *fingers crossed* as of now, I don't have to baby the gas pedal when I start the car up. Will have to keep an eye on it on longer journeys to see if it really did indeed fix the problem.
Only remaining possibly unrelated issue is that
only the Check Engine light comes on when the key is simply turned to the 'ON' position without starting it. I know that the break light, check engine and seatbelt sign are supposed to come on for a few seconds then go off, but its just the check engine that is staying on. When I start the car it goes away.

Maybe just a random loose cable or something.
