What are these for?

Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

What are these for?

Post by SteinOnkel »

Hey guys,

I found these four "Rusty Bois" as the kids would call them these days under the rear bench. I suspect they are for seatbelts? I don't have belts in the back so I'm thinking I might want to just bin these.

Cheers
Steiny

I'm not 100% sure, but they do look like the "tie-downs" used on the ends of seat belts. I wonder how they got so rusty; was there water sitting under the rear seat bench at some point?

They do indeed appear to be seat belt brackets - but the seat belts have long since been cut away - they are of no further seat belt use.
If you keep such things in case you need something like that, carefully clean, sandblast and paint.
I keep a bucket in the corner of the garage that receives scrap metal destined for recycling.
I would gently place them in said bucket.

Yep! The car sat in the woods with a bad top before I got it.

The floorboards are surprisingly good. I've knocked off all the tar and there's only one part where I need to weld in a 3x3" patch. Not bad for a 41 year old Italian car :)

Okay, they will gently go into the bin. Thanks guys.
