241 - Colorado Yellow

Post by Volder »

Hi!

My 1969 is up for a new spray, and I am considering returning to the original colour; 241, Colorado Yellow.

Does any one have a pictures of a Fiat in that colour?

Google only brings me pictures of model cars and they seem almost green!! Not a colour for me...

Thanks

I've seen that color and think it looks nice. You might get a can a of touch-up paint from these guys (TCPGlobal: http://www.tcpglobal.com) and paint it on a card and see what you think.

Here's the color palette from 1969:

I concur. A color change is much too important to be decided by an old paint chart. Colorado Yellow is very similar to what the British call Primrose. It has a definite greenish cast to it. I'm not judging it good or bad, but you should see a square foot of it in the sunshine before painting it (or any other color) on your car.

Fiat Spiders are still reasonably-priced vintage cars, and their value is not usually dependent on everything being concours. Now is your chance to make your car reflect your personal preferences. I personally would stay away from contemporary metallics and pearls on a vintage car, but the choice is yours alone.

I diluted Fiat Yellow 223 with white incrementally until I got what I wanted. If you'd like a pale yellow Spider, I'd be happy to send you the color formulation.

Looks great! Mine is a very old repaint of the original color, but that greenish tint that shows up every once in awhile makes me want to puke. There will be a color change in the future. Like yours very much!

I've seen Bernies' car many times. Pictures don't show how great the car is.
