Brake Booster Wet Connector

While hunting down air leaks I came across this wet connector on my brake booster.



I assume it should not be wet and am looking for advice on fixing it. Can I drain the brake lines, remove that particular piece and install a new one or is this a more complicated job best left to a mechanic?

I've always done all the brake work on my motorcycles, so I'm willing to try my hand on the FIAT as long as I know what I'm getting into before I open it up.

I think that rubber grommet hay have swelled and it is not sealing, it is most probably easier and more cost effective (time wise) to get a whole new master cylinder. The brake fluid will strip of paint in that area.
