varnish goo in fuel tank: how to remove?

Post by joseph »

Apparently, my car sat for way too long with gas in the tank and now I have to clean it. Anyone have a good procedure for this?

Take it to a radiator shop that does gas tanks, most do. Mine was $135 and looked like new, or buy a new tank.

Not sure where you hang your hat,but here I can buy a 3 part kit that will clean the tank then prep it and then a toxic goo is poured in and you roll the tank around and the stuff sticks to the inside. I've done it on a couple of cars and one 5 years later no issues (touch wood).
Here the kit was about $60.00 ($ about par at the moment)
