Odd wiring glitch

Post by ga.spyder »

I drove my car Tues. night,I rarely venture out after dark. When my headlights are on,my turn indicators in the speedo dont light. If the lights are off, they work fine. Also, when they turn signal is on the blue high beam light flashes dimly instead of the green arrows.Odd.I know ...its a Fiat, but this car hasnt had many wiring issues.Any ideas??

feedback issues are always due to poor grounds. The current finds a path to ground and it's usually through the filament of another bulb

I had a similar issue and after wiggling the connections on one of the connections (Bulb sockets) on the back of the inst cluster, it went away. I think it was a ground issue as Mark said.

I will pull the dash and check my connections.I have a burned out bulb in the temp guage anyway.Do the instruments all ground to the pod under the dash? Thanks

i am more inclined to think it is a grounding issue for the headlights or turn signals, rather than inside the dash.

but, either way... it definitely sounds like a poor ground to one or more bulbs.

I looked at it today, and the right turn signal is definitely dim compared to the other.I am going to start there and work my way to the dash.
