Engine stutters when high beams are flicked on

I am driving own the road at might. I flick on my high beams and the engine stutters / stumbles for a second then runs normal. Any ideas.

It a 1977
No A/C in car
No radio in car
only things turned on are regular lights.

Don't use your accelerator foot to change the high beams?

Actually, it sounds like you have a bad connection in the stalk / ignition switch OR you are jiggling the tach connection somehow? I would styart looking ofr a loose wire in the steering column area.
