ignition ??

Post by narfire »

Hav'nt had the car out for a while so thought I'd take it to my Thursday soccer game. Car turned over for 1/2 second then nothing. Power to radio, lights ect but when I turn the key ... nothing.(ended being a few thundershowers and perhaps she did not whant to get wet.)
Start looking at the brown wire? is there an inline fuse to check. I'll have a look tonight. Ant suggestions from others is appreciated.

Had a revelation while in the reading room... check the ground at the battery. It was on but a bit loose, wiggled it around and tried to start...worked!!!! Gonna tighten tonight after work.

I was going to suggest checking the battery cables. After having my Pontiac towed to the dealership only to have them tighten the cable in the service lane, I've learned to check the cables first! Glad you found the problem.

We FI owners have two brown wires, the normal one and another that goes from the battery to the dual relay. Mike's still right though, neither is fused.

Gotcha, put my glasses on (see post about eyes after 40) and it was the pos side that was loose, inc. the brown wire.
Disconected the ground and gave the pos a tighten and then the neg.
Starts right up.... no issues other than the turn signals now(just about the only thing I hav'nt changed out)
