Fuel Pump and AFM jumper

Post by tima01864 »

One of the previous owners jumped the Fuel pump , Just cut the green black wire and hot directly to the fuse box. The past owner replaced the AFM and left it. I reconnected the cut green black wire, It now works off the AFM, Easy fix, Now safer and starts beautifully, It may even be more responsive or just the car wash effect.

Sounds great. I don't understand why so many FI Spiders have the fuel pumps hot wired bypassing the air flow safety switch circuit. Maybe there was an intermittent problem and a PO thought bypassing the circuit was the easiest solution.

The guy I bought the car from replaced the AFM and left the PO's fix. Glad it was easy to revert to the AFM. I should not of waited so long to

fix it, The engine kicks over much better. Having the pump run off the key is annoying and could be dangerous.

I had a little problem this afternoon, Since I removed the direct current to the fuel pump.
The engine sputtered like not getting enough fuel, I pulled over to a stop, Then the engine continued to behave normally.
The fuel pump on it's way out?
The dual relay (Which was not being used for the pump and AFM) is or was going out?
