Custom Automatic Shifter

Post by evrenosogullari »

Saw someone posted something here back in 2014:
https://www.fiatspider.com/f15/viewtopic.php?t=29088

Looking to make a custom replacement the shifter on an automatic Fiat 1980. Current one isn't pretty...

Was thining maybe another shifter could be used from another car?

Anyone done this before? .... Any ideas?

Hi there,

I'm in the same boat. Looking to update the existing cracked, worn, loose, cover.

Is there a Chevette graveyard we can pilfer?

Its one of the only things that really bugs me that I can't customize....

Must be a way to swap it out...

FYI to anyone interested in this....

Found a guy on ebay who makes custom mahogany shift knobs who although doesn't have any available, said if you were to send him your automatic shift knob he would be able to make one. Not sure if that includes the lever, but I'm sure could ask him.

Kind of curious if someone else does it first and sends pictures. Otherwise maybe I will do this towards the end of the summer and send pictures if it comes out good.

ALTERNATIVELY..... I found this Nordic guy who overlaid his automatic shifter in leather along with the rest of his car.
