Tuck bumper or not?

Keeping it sharp - paint, wax, detailing, etc.

Tuck bumper or not?

Post by PaulC »

Left rear end of bumper for pushed in during the transport from AZ to ME. :(
Question is pull it back out (and how) or just push (tuck) the right side in too?
Think I'm liking the tucked look anyway so how best to do the back and front?

Left rear? Perfect, you can match the passenger side easily*

Remove bumper (4 crusty m8 nuts underneath plastic covers, covers held on by sheet metal screws)

Remove bumper shock (one large bolt inside spare wheel compartment)

Drill hole into bumper shock (wear a face shield!)

Let all fluid out

Pound on it with a sledgehammer until it is the same length as the other side.

*To remove the driver's side bumper shock, you need to remove the fuel tank  Extremely dumb Fiat design, they could've just rotated the fasteners 180 degrees.

For left rear, I just unbolted retaining nuts then lifted tank and moved away from shock enough to remove bolt. No need to completely remove tank, hoses, etc. Best to do with an empty tank. Greeny
