Missing electrical issues

I have a 77 and one of the previous owners wanted to turn it into a rally car (clearly didn't know what they were doing) long story short the electrical is a mess and half of everything doesn't work. Everything that would've been on the center dash console area with the radio (radio, hazard switch, fan switch, cigarette lighter) was chopped out and removed. I have a bunch of wire ends that I could look at a wiring diagram of and see where they go but what I don't know is what I need to get fixed or connected so that my gauges and blinkers work. I'm just assuming that most of the electrical doesn't work because of the mess of cut wires because all my fuses are good and the car runs.

Any help would be appreciated I am not a good electrician

Are you hoping to fix the wiring yourself or have some one help you?? If you post your location maybe there is some one in your area that could assist you.

Hoping to fix it myself. I think I could eventually figure it out by myself but it will take me quite some time on my own

Do you have a wiring diagram? If not you can download one at Mirafiori.com. That will be the critical first step. After that I would jut pick something that doesn't work and figure out why.

Depending on where it was hacked. Finding a wiring harness might save you some headaches. A parts wanted ad or check with the fellow with the 77 parts currently for sale on the forum.

Breadman, I'll be honest, this is going to be some work. Do-able? Yes. Easy? No.

That being said, the suggestions to get the wiring diagram for a 1977, and to pick one item at a time (blinkers, then stop lights, then gauges, then wipers, etc.) are excellent suggestions. You can also start with a particular fuse and get all the circuits working on that fuse, then move to the next fuse, etc. There are 10 fuses in the fuse box plus more outside of the box, plus some unprotected circuits. A buzzer-type continuity tester and a good DVM are essential to this, although many DVMs have a buzzer built in for continuity tests.
