On the later models (not sure exactly when, but after '80, his is an '83, so somewhere in there, '81, '82 or '83,) the Intake Manifold has a great deal of extra cast Al material along one edge, it is quite different from the earlier manifolds, and the manifold gaskets have a small interference problem. This is amplified if the head has been shaved at all. The manifold and the gasket both will interfere with the head and each had to be modified slightly to fit. The gasket just cut down a little along one edge, and the Intake Manifold slightly ground down as shown approximately by the black marker along one edge.
The gasket can be easily and safely trimmed with a sharp pair of scissors.
I had to also cut down the gasket to fit my '80, which also has a slightly shaved head. I suppose that it might just crush down to fit, but there is a possibility of that introducing gap problems, so we modified them. The gasket and the manifold on Tim's '83, just the gasket on my '80.
