2020 video of my 77 Spider

Post by ebrown0104 »

It's been a little while since I've posted anything, but I made it out for a drive today and got some video of the car in action.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1v97jdtNfzw&t

Specs are 1977 Fiat 124 Spider (original California car) performance engine build:

1800cc
European 84.4mm pistons 9.8:1 compression
Vick's Auto 40-80/80-40 cams with Allison Automotive adjustable gears and Iskenderian valve springs
Mildly ported head with Vick's 43mm/37.5mm oversize valves
Weber dual IDF40 carburetors
Lightened stock flywheel (~12lbs)
Auto Ricambi aluminum crank pulley
Balanced rotating assembly
Marelliplex electronic ignition
Vick's stainless header and full 2.25" exhaust
3.90 rear end with Torsen limited slip

Cosmetic changes include:

Enkei RPF1 wheels 14x7 185/60-14 front/195/60-14 rear tires
Removed OEM bumpers
Allison front chin spoiler and front turn signals (in bumper shock holes)
Grittracing front turn signals (in the square cutouts)
Custom cherry wood dashboard
Orange/black/tan houndstooth interior (in progress!)
Retrosound Hermosa radio
+ more that I can't recall currently

The video isn't the best, but I'll get more pictures posted later on. Thanks for checking it out!

Nice looking car and sounds great. With your video and the nice weather we've been having here it's making me itchy to get mine off of storage and out on the road!

I like your engine setup. I'd like to get my compression in line with yours. Very nice.

Great video! Enjoyed watching it. Looks like a well thought out approach to performance rebuild without going bananas!

Beautiful! Well done. I love that aluminum floor plate on the driver's side.

Beautiful car. I have done mine very similar except it is white. I'm in the middle of redoing the interior now. I have a question about how you did you dash. Did you make the wood yourself? What did you do with the lights for Seat Belts, Hazard, and Brake. Also what about the other controls?

Do you have any pictures of the wiring behind the dash. I have found a handful of random cut wires and I have no clue where they go. Trying to chase those down now.

Thanks for posting and beautiful car.

That is a sweet looking car. Nicely done. Mine was almost completed, almost, 20 years ago. Still working on the last 10%, mostly interior and cosmetic.
