Brake hoses - upgraded to SS

Post by JohnMc »

Was under the car and saw that the rear brake rubber hoses were cracked - no dating and presume original. Looked at center hose and dated 2001 and front brake hoses 1991.
So did not drive until I ordered and installed new SS brake hoses from AR. Fit just fine.
You do have to get new copper washers - I think like 5 of them, but can order on site.
Not sure if correct but found in one book that the torque of the front banjo bolts were 14 ft lbs and seemed fine.
Just an FYI if you have not looked at yours.

Did you get new hoses for the brake compensator too?

Yes I did get the compensator hose also.
The backs and compensator hose extremely easy to install and bleed.
The fronts were easy when I figured out the clip that held down the banjo bolt had a small bolt to the side. The clip must be removed before taking off the banjo bolt.
As always take a few photos and then you won't need the photos. :)
I got one of the cheap one person brake fluid bleeding kits - but worked it with my son. Really bad stuff came out and changed out fluid. Very easy to bleed system.
