rust

Post by KWL82 »

removed rubber pads on underside of hood as it looks like was holding water and rusting. I've sanded the metal but wondering about best solution. POR15 over it then rattle can similar color? its the underside of hood and doesnt need to be concourse. Just want it looking good but mostly to stop from getting worse. also, maybe use the POR15 patch kit first? thanks in advance

Hi KWL82
The only way to stop it is to cut it all out, unless you can somehow get the rust converter onto the inside of the metal. Putting POR on the outside will only slow the rust down and it will reappear 6 months from now if not earlier.
If you cant weld still cut out to good metal and then use fiberglass/Filler, Then paint

Have fun ! :D

Had anyone tried VHT rust converter? It was rated the #1 rust converter for 2017. I bought 6 spray cans of it for smaller areas I can't reach and I'm going to buy a gallon(if available) for my floor pan. I have a lot of rust on my 72' spider and was hoping to stop it with this stuff. Anyone used it?
Cheers!
