Refinishing Dash Center Section

Hi,

Has anyone attempted to refinish the dash center-section bezel?

I've found an older style that's much cleaner visually, but needs the paint and chrome refurbished.

I was thinking of "leafing" the chrome surfaces with this: http://www.bare-metal.com/bare-metal-foil.html

Assume a modelling rattle-can can do the rest.

...Wondering if I'm re-inventing the wheel here? And if anyone has a spare no-holes lower "wood" piece?
