Center speaker

Interesting that my '77 apparently came with one speaker - the one in the center dash. Was it meant for a mono radio? PO installed decent 5 1/4's down by the map pockets somewhere and a period Sanyo cassette player with pushbuttons. I had the dash apart so replaced the little 3" x 6" (?) with a better junkyard 4 x 6. A trick I learned years ago is to wire a center speaker with the positive left and right leads. It works - and I believe you get both channels - but don't blame me if you try it and fry something. No plans for anything fancy in the car audio - besides the point IMO.

I once installed two Sony (or Polk maybe) 2.5" mid/high speakers behind the grille. I had to make a little mount out of luan but it worked well enough. I then put subs in the kick panels. I used two tiny harmon/kardon amps that fit where the computer goes on an FI car. Pretty tidy really, best sound we had in a Spider using stock locations.
