What causes this?

Hi All, Had a couple of quick spins dow the street when no one is looking as its not registrered yet and I notice that the passenger door window wants to roll down by itself from vibration. Does anyone know what causes this and what is required for a fix? This is a first timer for me

Are the rubber/felt extrusions that should be in the window channels missing?

my first thought is the track felt. i would check a couple of things to make sure you dont have a cable problem. does the window go up and down with the crank. does the window have any play in the travel. put window at half mast and see if you can manually lift it up. watch to see if the crank turns while doing this. if the window can be moved without the crank turning, you have slack in the cable. this could be from adjustment, a cable ready to break, or a bad pulley or two.

From what I can tell, all of the felt is ther albeit ready for replacement. I will try the window at half mast pull test when I get home tonight

Ok, checked the window when I got home. Rolled the window half way down and tried to pull it up -very little if any movement. Tried to push it down - down it went with very little effort, spinning the window crank as it went. Hmmmmm......So what am I looking at here, just replacing the felts?

I'd be taking the door panel off and then the plastic covers found underneath to see what is going on. The window should stay put with or without the felt strip at the top, or mine did/does when I've had to muck with the thing.
The panel comes off in about 10 minutes, for me the most frustrating thing is the retaining clip for the window handle, and that is really not that bad a thing to pop off.

I have the special little clip tool for that (actually a GM tool) that works really well

One can simply slide a rag between the handle and spacer, and the rag will catch the end u-hook and pull it out.

I had this on a Spider a long time ago, fought it for a while, and then just replaced the window regulator.

I will poke around this weekend if the boss allows I have a spare but really didn't want to have to change it out and we all know how these things snow ball. I will end up wanting to fix something else while I am in there

When this happened to my driver's side door, the regulator was OK. The plastic pulley for the cable had gone bad, however. Boy, that is one hard part to find!
