Fuel filler rubber hose orientation?

Bought a new fuel filler hose from Vicks to install. Anyone know which is the top and which is the bottom part of the hose? One end is straight the other has a bend to it.

I put the straight part toward the fill and had to cut a little off the bottom to get mine to fit.

How is the thickness on the hoses? Anyone know if they are Gates Rubber?

Mission complete! Got it in today without having to trim it, helps if you work with another person.
