For those who have replaced the upholstery with either bruces or IAP's sets, is there a guide for this as i do not see it in the shop manual? On a scale of 1-10 how difficult is this project?
PS: New seat bottom cusions will be purchased.
Thanks,
Jeff
Thinking about new upholstery....
Not purchasing from them, but from Vicks in 2005.
I did not getta guide. I instead became real good friends with a professional upholsterer. He loaned me the bull-ring pliers (essential), provided the bull rings, and showed me how to add the wire stiffeners which do not come with the kit.
I did not purchase seat bottoms, and Mark showed me how to beef up what I had. By the way, there is no glue in the kits as well.
Additionally, he used his steamer (no one told me I needed this) to get the headrest covers installed. Fortunately, he also had an industrial grade sewing machine to mend a couple of spots i goofed up.
Never having this experience, if I would not have gotten to know Mark real well, I would have been SUBSTANTIALLY disappointed in my inability to convert this fairly large cost into the great looking product I envisioned.
In short, if you are in doubt.......get some quality help. It can be done, but not solely with the stuff that comes in the kit.
