connecting rod difference...
why can I not use a 1980 rod in a 1976 engine ? I'm doing a rebuild and I noticed they say the newer rods don't fit...

Re: connecting rod difference...
The rods are different lengths. The 1980 engine would be a 2 liter block, which has a 145mm center to center distance on the rods. A 1976 engine would have the 1.8L block whose rods are 136mm center to center. Both big end and small end diameters are the same though.
