Front brake hose attachment direction 1979 Spider

Post by bdinardo »

Hello folks. I've recently undergone a brake job on my 1979 Spider replacing rotors, pads, compensator valve, caliper seals and all rubber hoses. I got to the fronts and realized that the front rubber hose (this one, https://autoricambi.us/front-brake-hose/ ) on the banjo bolt end is a non-symmetrical end. One side is "flat" and the other side has an angle on it that both fit when bolted onto the caliper. Can anyone comment as to which side goes against the caliper and which side is "up"?

Thanks very much!

My recollection is that it can go either way, but there's only one way that will allow proper attachment of the little metal "bracket clip" that goes over the banjo connection. The clip is held to the the caliper with a very short M6 screw, and prevents the banjo bolt from turning. It looks like: https://autoricambi.us/left-brake-hose-lock-plate/
