I now have the ultimate head gaskets for 1800s and 2Ls. It's a 5 layer Multi Layer Steel gasket, .060 thick. If you're running really high compression or a turbo, this will solve your head gasket issues. It's not cheap, but this will solve your head gasket problems.
We will be carrying a 3 layer gasket in the future, but the first batch is 5 layer.
The first batch is $115 per gasket, but that price will come down when we reorder

That's great! Do you have any more details? Viton coating on the outer layer? Bore size? 85 mm or 86 mm? Ay chance of any close up photos of the areas between cylinders and oil ports? What are the five layers? I am rebuilding my race motor as we speak, 12 to 1 CR with my designed pistons.

Mark, i think i could use a little education. The standard gaskets are 1.3 or 1.4mm. From what i have read the thicker guy groft gasket is 2 MM with a slight reduction in compression. Your 5 layer gasket is .06 inches? I think that comes in at something like 1.525 MM. Will the 5 layer gasket help if your head is the smallest of amouts off with an oil leak. I think the head needs to be less than .004 end to end and .002 side to side. So the question is, if this is off by .02 or .01 will these gaskets possible help. If so i think the price is well worth it to eliminte a problem and keep a relatively close to stock gasket size on the head. Am I looking at this the wrong way and a five layer gasket would make no difference for slight imprefections when it comes to an oil leak?

the stock gaskets I have are listed as 1.2mm, and I'm sure it varies by brand. I have some Italian gaskets that are offered in 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 thicknesses. I wouldn't use a head with more than . 003 warpage without surfacing
Are you getting an oil leak from the right rear corner between the block and head?
MLS gaskets are well known for curing failures on iron block/alum head motors, so I would think it would work as well on oil passages as it does with water/compression.
The gasket is reuseable to a point. For instance, if you assemble the motor and have to remove the head, the gasket will spring back to it's original thickness, so you don't have to worry about crush. The mfg says they can be reused even if run for awhile as long as sealer wasn't applied that affected the Viton coating

Mark, so this will slightly reduce compression? I went with the 10.5:1 pistons in my build which might have been a bit high. I know I had seen others mention using a thicker head gasket to help a bit. .080 would be 2.032mm I believe. Do you still have these? At work so haven't been able to search your site.

yes we have them in stock. If you want to drop compression a tad, use the .080 gasket

that company also makes gaskets for 1608cc engine. i ordered from them last year 20pcs and they sold like popcorn!
installed couple myself, seems to be very good quality. time will tell.
