All that said...
I did just find this, but I worry about the quality.

Trunk popper, Now with RFID remote
Re: Trunk popper, Now with RFID remote
Hey Alan
Your welcome anytime!
On remote starter alarms I've maybe installed a couple dozen of those years ago, when it comes to normal
alarms hundreds but that was in the 90s. I do have some knowledge of current alarms because I still do a little
research from time to time nothing like before. So just like you did some searching yourself finding a product
I didn't even know existed would be helpful. I read the post last night and was trying to come up with an answer
but I've never installed something like what you found even though the plugs and operation are very much like
what i'm talking about. The function is different from the remote starter alarms but the concept is the same.
When it comes to the remote starting units only 4 or 5 additional wires are added to the system. 1 to power up
the needed circuits to keep the engine running, some cars i would need 2 wires connected at the ignition
others just 1 wire to the harness, 1 wire to the tach, 1 to the brake light switch, 2 to the starter wire.
I had an ideal where you would use 2 products to get you what you wanted but this unit on ebay pretty much
solves that now it's all in one. On the Alarm if you can hold off till after thanksgiving sometime the following
week i should be able to take a trip to one of the wholesalers i've been dealing with for many years. They carry
many products I can check to see if they have anything like the one on the link.

Re: Trunk popper, Now with RFID remote
Well I'm in no rush since progress on the car is slow... Too much work going on! It's great to be busy again so not complaining.
So, if you get a chance to check at your wholesale vendor, great!
I had another thought that might come very close to my ultimate solution. I thought about getting a typical remote entry system, which are relatively inexpensive, and usually come with a trunk release. Then use the unlock/lock function to kill my ignition circuit. I guess I would have to grab the keys and push the lock button to shut the car off which doesn't sound so great.
