Re: Budget engine build
Hi SteveI have no idea what the old guy would want for them at the moment either.
Ok well if you can get an ideal of what they will run price wise and info on sizes to choose or not then we are talking
i'll take the largest over size in stock ! If you have paypal that would simplify the process a little every can pay directly
then we can work out who handles the shipping from here ?

Re: Budget engine build
Did anything further ever come of this piston group-buy? I'm going to be making a decision soon on which way I'm going is-a-vis pistons on my build (other "budget" thread)
I'm no Boy-Racer..... but if I can't take every on-ramp at TWICE the posted limit.... I'm a total failure!
Re: Budget engine build
I haven't heard anything from steve yet i'm still interested if it's possible to work out .

Re: Budget engine build
I might suggest a thread titled "piston gorup-buy", so others see it.fiatfactory wrote:I only had Daniel show any interest, so I figured that you all had other sources for pistons... one set is hardly a "group buy"
SteveC
How many people do you think you need? And as Daniel suggested: knowing a balpark price and what sizes might be available would be helpful. (do we all need to order the same pisons to qualify as a "group-buy"?)

Re: Budget engine build
Maybe someone who lives where Fiats are still being sold can comment on this. The Fiat coupe and barchetta form the 90's appear to use an updated version of the Fiat TC engine found in our 124s. They offered vvt and even a 16v Turbo. I've been looking around on European sites and parts for these cars don't seem too hard to find. Can anyone speak on authority if any of these carry over? Naturally they being FWD cars, things have been moved around a bit, but maybe we can make use of some of these parts?

Re: Budget engine build
gotcha, I was afraid the manifolds would be different. So much for a cheap source of turbo manifolds. Then agai, if it was that easy someone else would have figured that out before me I'm sure.

Re: Budget engine build
So the first delta HF turbo was like the TC's in our Fiats in so far as the head and block are concerned, but the later ones are not. And by reverse flow do you mean a non crossflow design or the exhaust is where the intake should be and vice versa.

Re: Budget engine build
This thread is so informative that it should really be a sticky.
Not really seriously contemplating a rebuild for my 2.0 just yet, but I will certainly come back to this thread if I do. The top end is pretty wimpy so it is only a matter of time....
