Are you referring to a rotisserie? Sounds like your building a pretty nice one. motorized way cool! I am just going to keep it simple kind of like the one mdrburchette built except with wheels.

Yeah that is what i was talking about. I haven't seen the one you're referring to. I wanted mine to actually lift the car so I can use it to change oil or anything else I would need to get under the for. I will make sure i get some pictures up when I am done. Looking forward to following your build. I thought about trying a Miata set up on
mine but decided to build my 2L first.

Matt,
I will have to pick my off of the ground with my cherry picker in order to load it in my rotisserie but same idea. the car will be able to get to the underside by rotating it.
Cheers!

Ahh I see. I designed mine to drive up, attatch the bumper mounts to my lift cross member then 4 2 ton winches to lift. I then have a 2 ton hoist with gear and drive chain to rotate using a second controller.

Wow sounds expensive... I only need to hold the weight of the body and to rotate it upside down. And only for this occasion of rebuilding the car.
Did I understand that your rotisserie is designed to hold the weight of the entire car? Pretty heavy duty... I am guessing that you'll be draining all of the fluids before you flip the car upside down if needed. You got pictures of this thing? I'd love to see it.
Cheers!

Yeah it will hold the entire weight. I will only use the rotate for this initial build. I am making it pretty universal so that I can use it for other projects, like a rotating weld table or mounting another car body. The LIFT part of it is what I really crave. I hate trying to get under a car to change the oil, mine can be used just for lifting purposes for changing fluids, brakes, tires, etc. I am designing an adapter for my other cars to drive on and it lift it under the tires. No more laying on the floor!
Really it wasnt that expensive, adding the rotate only cost me an extra $200. Bearings for the rotate mount, an extra winch was the expensive part at $125, and $30 for a bit of extra tubing for it.
I havent got it done yet, I am still waiting on my bearings and winches to get here that I ordered. The cross member that holds all the weight has to be finished before I can put the rest up since it fits down inside the 3 1/2" tubing on both sides.
I will make sure to get pictures up when it is done.

I hear ya I don't particularly like getting under the car if I can help it. I look forward to your pics.

I never used the parts on the spider rotary table but instead used them to build a lift for our 64 and 66 Chevy vans. The Spider got put on the back burner for my wife's van project. I started working on the motor again and after almost $4500 on this 2L am almost done with that part of it.
How is yours going with the V6?

Hotrod magazine built up a 500 hp 4.3L Vortec V6... I couldn't imagine building my v6 up to that. I'm having issues with my 4runner so this may push me into getting my v6spider on the road!
