EDIS Module Connector Disassembly How-To

Post by pastaroni34 »

I know a few of you guys are into the Ford EDIS thing for MegaJolt or MegaSquirt. Here's a quick how to I did on how to take apart the module connector. Its not the most amazing thing but its great to not have to cut the wires to get it through the firewall, plus it eliminates additional wire solder connections.

Does anybody know where to get new pins to crimp onto new wires? I've seen some of the various EDIS connectors on ebay, but not the individual pins. I'd like to set up the system without a ton of spliced wires.

I have new connectors and a few pins.. but less than 50 pins that came with the connectors. I am trying to source them separately but it looks like I'll have to order over 1000 pieces. The problem is I am not 100% sure I have the correct part number, no one can verify. I guess I'll find out after I spend a couple hundred $$$.

If you're really determined you can un-crimp the connectors once you remove them. I know this isn't ideal...

I now have complete connectors with pins! Even EDIS4 and EDIS6, which are completely NLA elsewhere :)

I mounted both modules under the dash using one custom bracket. I also made a coil holder for the front left of the engine which also holds the oil dip stick.http://flic.kr/p/4p9xwT, http://flic.kr/p/495jGh, http://flic.kr/p/495jC7
