Modifying an 1800

I have a Spider 1800 that I have owned for many years. It is time to go through the motor. I want to improve it's power. Some increase in compression and carburation is in order. My question is ...how much increase in power can the bottom end take ? I plan to add an oil cooler with an oil thermostat. Can anybody else give me some additional ideas on how to make the lower end stay together ? Also need to find some good carburation. Anybody have some dual carbs for sale ? OOps ! guess I should have put this down in the technical area. I'll try to do better next time !
