I did try safelite,
Well today I read the entire post and saw you had tried Safelite. Sounds like not all Safelite dealers provide the same quality of service.
I don't know where you are located but I think Some Fiat parts vendors that supply other part for our Spiders can get windshields also.
There is a similar post right now on Mirafiori.com describing replacing windshield procedure. It might b helpful.
I would prefer to find a new windshield. the lack of clarity of old safety glass along with glass pitting would make me len toward new instead of used.

I have two windshields one I bought cheap and another I took off a guy's hands. The one I bought looked okay but when I got it home, Not so good. The second is better but still, If I pay or take the effort to replace the windshield I want something Good, Like new.
I found a guy around here with 40 years behind him. Veterans Glass, He said he would do it but not his favorite. My guess is he did these back in the day.

I finally found the manufacturers' printing on the bottom of the new Chinese windshield that I installed last May.
I guess that you could see if an auto glass shop can order one: "FUYAO" is the name.
Like I said, nice windshield, 1mm thinner than stock. It may be all that's available new, for 124s. Post if you find something different - and post when you get your windshield in,...so we'll know that you were successful!
Best of luck!
Todd.

Go to a local glass shop. I am in the final stages of a complete restoration and got one for $175, just for the glass. That is without installation.
Thanks

I paid about the same for mine,...for just the glass, and my cars' gasket was in excellent shape, so I re-used it.
I really did not find installation to be a 'tough' project,...

Some Fayao glass is manufactured in Ohio. Fayao purchased an automotive glass factory there from General Motors a few years back. I went to a car show one time in Monterey and noticed one of their windshields on a 124. The glass itself looked good, but yeah...... the logo in the corner threw me. I suppose if you didn't want to spend the money for a piece of St. Gobain glass, you could always go with the Chinese company and just put a sticker over the logo. Maybe one of those small Fiat windshield stickers. A Lada differential, a Polish transmission, Mexican tires, Chinese glass......what's next? Ha! http://www.fiatplus.com/PARAFLU-WINDSCREEN-STICKER.html

Glovebox doors signed by Aurelio Lampredi....? :D

Or an engine signed by Enzo Ferrari, or Ferraro if that suits your culinary tastes?

Finally had my windshield replaced. It was not overly expensive, 700.00, But I was able to get it replaced through Insurance. The windshield is a fuyasa, I was fortunate to find an Independent that would do the install, Took him about 2 hrs.
