Yo, rodo!
My Spider still has it's original 1979 factory carpeting and mats. They look like this:
Probably to provide rubber mats for wet, muddy shoes/boots,...as opposed to carpeting.
Individual factory rubber mats also cover the carpeting behind the seats,...just in case you cram some passengers into the rear seat!
Best of luck with the carpeting project!
Todd Compton.

Exactly, thanks Todd. And are your's stitched, the rubber to the carpet? What an odd way of doing things but that's why we love our FIATs. Or, at least, I keep telling myself that.
I'm guessing those mats are no longer available. Anyone know?

Yes, the lower part of the rubber mat is stitched to the carpet around it's periphery,...
I've not seen them available (certainly NOT in red. Seems like very little, if anything, is available in red,...). I'll sure hang on to mine and treat them nicely!

Re: Insulation/carpeting
Does any one know what your carpets are made from? I want to make my own. I'm doing a custom color scheme in my car but I don't what to put something in the will get ruined. The original carpets seemed to handle all the damage over the years so I'm hoping to get something similar or the same the best I can think of is a nylon loop.

The vendors mostly sell nylon. PET carpeting (made from recycled plastic bottles) will dry faster and can be a good choice too.
