Oh, man! Was THAT easy!
Used my old mark on the distributor housing, and made a new one for the rotor position, pulled the distributor, and then the new vac. adv. module. I adjusted the module's rod so that when the plastic connector is of length to connect with the distibutor's advance plate ball all of the vac. adv. module's mounting screw holes line up. Re-installed.
Started, set timing by ear,...set carb by ear (I have no timing marks, and no other way to tune the carb, but the technique works GOOD, once you learn it!).
Idle was adequate for an AT. Idled (and cruised slow down the county road and back) to 'fan on' and 'fan off'. Much less smoke when warm on acceleration than previously, and the Spider wants to GO! Much improved engine performance.
Great to not have my carb sucking air (other than what it's supposed to)!! And to have the vacuum advance functioning as it should, once again.
Todd.
