Gauges Not Working

Post by davery »

I took out the gauges of my 85 and when I put them back none seem to be working. All the lights work, but no needle movement. It looks like the power supply goes through the cigarette lighter (which I also had out of the car). Any ideas where I should start?

I think the wire diagam posted is for the dash lights in the instruments not the instrument power circuit

Yes, it looks like you are correct. This looks like it might be correct. It looks there is a common black/white ground to all 5 gauges. Anyone have any idea where it is grounded?

I think the dash ground strip is near the signal light flasher behind and above the ignition switch. Do your brake lights work?? I believe they share the same power from Fuse 11.

I found the grounding pod behind the ignition. There is a spade connector with no wire. I looked around and did not see a loose wire. I can't seem to follow the white/black wire from the gauge harness. I lose it when it goes into the dash and I can't seem to find it from underneath. I think the turn signals and brake lights are on this circuit. I will check them tomorrow.
