Electric Water Pump?

I received an email from a non-Fiat vendor regarding performance electric water pumps. Here's the link to one of their offerings:

Seems like it could allow the engine to rev more freely and provide another horse or two!

Has anyone converted their Spider to use an electric water pump instead of the traditional pulley-driven system? If so, what is your experience (good? bad? meh?)?

so, is the pump rpm constant or does it vary with engine speed somehow? Otherwise, flow is either too slow or too fast most of the time

My understanding is that electric pump speed is dependent on engine temp. If the engine temp goes up, then the flow goes up to cool it down. So it only pumps as much water as what is needed to cool the engine.

could also get really fancy and use something like megasquirt and program an output to handle that variation based on engine temp for you.

If im thinking about it correctly, you actually wouldn't need a thermostat anymore either. Just program the pump to run really slow, or off during warmup. use the temp sensor in the head for input.
