It does feel like about 100 at 5k in 5th gear and they're isn't much left either, that's about tops unless I really drag it out on an endless straight, then I might tip 5600 Rs.
You are running out of power in fifth. The engine has more top end. Try it again in 4th and you might get a couple more MPH's.

Not worth doing the arithmetic and it depends on your wheels and tires too, but 4th and 5th aren't too far apart.

I've checked my speedo with a GPS on my 81 with 195/60 14s and I'm doing approx. 60 at 3K, 70 at 3.5K, and 80 at 4K. The speedo reads about 3-4 mphs higher after 50. I've pinned my speedo, so I took it to about 85mphs. It felt great, even with original suspension rubber. Nice and steady. Can't wait to feel it with updated suspension parts.

I've also heard that a 79 140 speedo will bolt up fine to an 81, but earlier ones don't. I'm curious how the person who stuck a 70 speedo on a 2000 Spider did it.

Any of the 'shallow face' speedos will work, they have the clip-on connection on the back. They started in mid-77.

If you want to use an early speedo, you need the matching speedo cable with has a metal threaded coupler for the back of the speedo rather than the plastic clip. Both type cables have the same end at the transmission sending unit.

I picked up a set of deep dish gauges (140 speedo & tach) from a 79 Spider. I haven't compared them yet but it should work right Csaba? Is there any way to set the mileage so it's the same as the original? I have to also check to see what mileage is on the 79. I believe it also has one less digit on the mileage.

Thanks.
