I'm not sure anything made by pacesetter qualifies under the 'performance' category, but it's what I'm looking at.
Does anybody have any experience with them? Price is right at $200 for a steel painted header (pace setter 766-70-1041) at a well known online/mail order performance parts company usually specializing in muscle car and drag racing.
The picture online seems to be a representation, and not necessarily an actual photo. I can't seem to find any photos online, and the description is minimal.
I'm interested if anyone has, or has used one. I'm familiar with pacesetter quality and my expectations are low. Mainly I'm interested if Is it 4-2-1 or 4-1?

Re: Header - PaceSetter experiences
Correct - Thx 131
I PM'd another member here who had one on a past car, He states they are 4-1 design. I don't see any reason to remove the stock manifold for these, so I believe I will pass.
I understand there are mixed reviews concerning Vicks and IAP's, but I'll likely go with one of them.
A quick note on Marks header - I believe it's the best on the market, it's just not in this projects budget. Maybe one day....

Re: Header - PaceSetter experiences
rather than spend any money on that unit sold by VAs or IAP I'd use an FI manifold with the twin down pipes and connect it to a 2 1/4" free flow exhaust

Re: Header - PaceSetter experiences
The runners on the Pacesetter 'header' are too short for good performance. What year Spider is this for?
A good stock 4-2-1 setup works well for most applications. We carry an Abarth replica header, but it only works on 1600/1800 engines.

Re: Header - PaceSetter experiences
Thanks Mark and Csaba
It's a 75 1800 with the stock 4-1 manifold, 32adfa (to be 34adf in future). I think I was so intent on finding info on the pacesetter i completely forgot that I could use a late model stock 4-2-1 manifold.
What years specifically work with an 1800? My cat has been removed, and moderate fabrication/welding of the down pipe is acceptable.
Thx

Re: Header - PaceSetter experiences
If you have no cat converter: You'd need a manifold from a 1968-74 Spider. You can buy the downpipes new, they don't cost much.
If you have a converter then maybe a manifold and downpipe from a injected 2000 may work best? I never tried it on a 1800.
Aren't you in the same town as Allison's Automotive? Nothing like having a Fiat specialist in your back yard

Re: Header - PaceSetter experiences
if you're looking for an inexpensive alternative to a performance exhaust I'd use the FI manifold and downpipe and connect it to a 2 1/4 system. If the 1800 is stock and will stay that way you could get by with a 2" system

>If your going to buy a set of extractors, the first thing you should be looking at is the angle the primary pipes exit the >head at....most have the pipes simply welded square to the header flange,
OMG, I have never seen a header that bad.
