Hell, I do the same

Good idea, I'll take mine to the dump scale when the car is back on the road...wondered if it is less than 2000 pounds as I took the bumpers off and likely missing a few nuts and bolts after I put it back together years ago.

Azruss, please explain metal plate below radiator? 69 also has a metal pin on the lower cosole instead of a sticker in later cars. Located right below ash tray.

My official Fiat manual lists 1974 and up as 2360 lb for the 5 speed with another 40 lb for the automatic. My 1970 Fiat manual lists the weight of a 5 speed spider 1438 cc at 2030 lb.
The scale on the quoted must have been in error. Car and Driver tested the 1438 and it was faster than all spiders untill the 2 liter F.I. spider of 1980. This was due to the lighter weight of the 1438 spider.

Many people have put 2 liter motors in early spiders with great results. It's called "power to weight".

I read an article a while ago. They compared the 1438 to the 1608 when it first came out. The 1438 was about as fast as the 1608, but not faster. This was due the the 1438,s lower gearing. As the 1608 had more power.
