Custom dash board

I'm building out a custom 8-hole dashboard. I'm using a single piece of hardwood and will veneer it a bit later.
Adding oil temp and pressure and volt meter. The back harness has been completely customized using the original harness and a second one off eBay. By selecting carefully, I was able to reuse plugs, sockets and factory terminations with only a few splices.

Now as long as it'll fit in front of the defroster, i'm all set... ok. not quite

Planning to crack the guage and update the oil temp (a al CSABA)


Lay out was a PITA working against that metal brace


Custom harness bits and pieces along with 2 full harnesses made it pretty easy


The working clock with clear glass from a full panel I got from ebay along with the 2nd harness

Heat gun works quite well with forming the defroster duct ... other wise if that still doesn't gain enough room you can get some angling cups for your gauges..liking very good! What are you going to veneer it with?

Hi Rob- tell me more about the angling cups?
May try the heat gun but worried about brittleness of it - would love to find or have a couple of spares... got any?
Wood is a walnut I think...

Hi Rob- tell me more about the angling cups?

Me too! I'm doing a setup on the Ferrari 250 replica dash that Mark sells, and would like to angle the gauges in the center section so they point at the driver. I have searched for what it sounds like you are describing and can't find anything. I have about decided I'm going to have to custom fab them out of something, but if you know of something off the shelf, I'd love to hear about it.

Some Alfa Spiders had 2 or 3 gauges in the upper center console that were angled toward the driver. Maybe you could use that gauge holder.

Yup this is what I was talking about...I use them on my center gauges. Btw the heat from the heat gun actually makes it very plyable I have shaped two defroster ducts for the spider...

The dash is a project I started a long time ago and never finished. I made a console and have to make the face plate and mount all my switches and gadgets. I have some plexiglass for the face plate. I scrapped out a 76 Lancia, and hope to reuse the carpet and trunk liners. I hope to finish the interior by this spring, and do a lot of other needed cosmetic fixes. Good luck with your dash project!!! It is a lot of work....
