Brakes and plumbing

Post by scampbel98 »

Just validating - which reservoir should go to which nipple on the master cylinder?
My 1980 appears to have the left most reservoir going to the front nipple (which I believe is the rear lines?) and that same reservoir is the side that has the cap and float in it. - that would seem to indicate that the sensor would only go off when the rear got low on fluid -

Can someone confirm which way the reservoir should sit (e.g. cap on the left) and what line should feed which nipple?

Also: Given this car is 33 years old now - when should I be considering changing out the steel brake lines (if at all).

thanks!

my 81 is as you describe.... cap side of reservior goes to front of master cylinder .... dont know where the lines go from there .... as far as replacing lines... when i did my brakes i replaced the soft lines at each corner and at the brake compensator ... many problems can be traced to older soft lines bulging or leaking .... as for the hard lines i went under the assumption that they were fine ..... Thanks all. Just seems like a weird setup. If its a dual reservoir, and the front brakes do most of the work, and the sensor in the cap is in the rear reservoir.....
