HP of a mildly modified 2L
HP of a mildly modified 2L
I have a 2L with some typical mods and I wondered if anyone has an idea of how many horses I'm producing.
My engine has an 1800 head (stock valves), 1800 single plane manifold, 34 ADFA carb (running very stoic), and a stock 4,2,1 exhaust from a '79.
Has anyone with a similar setup dynoed their car?
Thanks,
Todd

Yup, maybe a bit over 100. A European carbed 2 liter with 9.8:1 compression ratio and no converter (and possibly a larger sized exhaust pipe) was rated at 110 Hp.

Re: HP of a mildly modified 2L
we ran a 2.0l on a dyno, it had 11.2-1 compression, ported 2.0 lancia head, 42/82 cams, big valves, single 40DFI carb. header 22" primaries 2 1/2" exhaust pipe, got 160hp at the crank at 7200

Re: HP of a mildly modified 2L
The 2-litre Aus/Euro spec 131 Superbrava engine in my Spider with nothing but a bit of port matching, free flowing exhaust and twin 40DCOE Webers cranked out 95bhp at 5500rpm at the rear wheels. Very flat torque curve from 2500 to 5500 rpm. Not a big revver but pulls like a train Quarter mile time 16.8 seconds at 86mph.
Compression is standard at, I think around 9.5:1. I'm sure fiatfactory (Steve) will correct that if I'm wrong

Re: HP of a mildly modified 2L
I don't have a cat. and all the smog equipment has been removed. I've got an Ansa muffler and the little middle muffler is gone. The engine pulls really nicely from the bottom but doesn't rev very high. I've got a differential from an automatic in it and it cruises really nicely on the open road. Thanks for all the guesses. They give me a pretty good idea of what I've got.

With an almost stock 2 liter that rear end is not gonna give you any performance driving. It will be a nice freeway cruiser though.

>Actually the Ritmo 125 was 125Hp with a single carb, 9.4:1 and a bigger intake valve....
It also had larger ports and different cams AFAIK.
I was thinking of the carbed Argenta engine which is pretty similar to his setup, except for compression and exhaust.

Re: HP of a mildly modified 2L
interestingly enough, i've had two heads from argentas in my hands in past couple days, one from argenta 2000 and another from argenta 110, both had 41.8mm intake valves.

Re: HP of a mildly modified 2L
I had the same experience as Djape. Bought heads and cams in Europe thinking I was getting some hot stuff, but once I compared them to the US market items, they proved to be identical. This was off carbed cars, so maybe Fiat put the better head on the 'top of the line' IE 2000 engines (IE = Inezione Elettronica = Electronic Injection).

Re: HP of a mildly modified 2L
definately so. I.E. models had 10hp extra thanks to mods inside the engine, not due to injection system. injection was ther to save fuel.
if you want 43.5mm valves, they come as standard in fiat tipo 1.6, lancia dedra and HPE 1.8
head was rotated 180' in those engines but there's no problem using it in 124/131/132 engines if you use just the head.
