Manifold 4334448

Post by JohnD »

Hi,

Related to my previous thread are there any special tricks (other plugging off the appropriate emmision connectors) do I need to do to make a single plane manifold work on my 1608? Will any 124 single plane work?. I believe this is the manifold off of a '74' 1800.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

If anyone has this part it mounts directly to my 1608. Now I am going to attempt to put on my DMSA carb.

Hi JohnD,

I put a 34DMSA and single plane intake from a '74 and put it on my 1608 engine.
Works great! You are going to love it!
(I could never get my DHSA to work well.)

Here is a thread with a pic of the EGR removed.

The 16mm x 1.5 pitch is a fairly common oil drain plug.
Most auto parts stores have a rack of drain plugs and you can find one there.

The other ones were not so hard to find.
Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think I made my first mistake by putting the original DHSA carb on the manifold as now it is not holding idle. I have a 34 DMSA that I just rebuilt but I have a small problem. One of the brass tubes on base of the carb is broken. I researched that I could block off both of the tubes with no issue to the running of the car. Carb is rebuilt but I just need to block off both of the tubes on the base.

I will check out your thread!!!

Thanks,

Re: Manifold - Follow Up

Hi,

I have been running my 71 spider (1608cc) for about 3 weeks now with the 34DMSA. I must say what a difference especially above 4K rpm. I am loving this carb. Again thanks to all who helped especially DougieB. The car runs great, idles better than it ever has and run up the red line with a noticeable increase in power. You can really feel it!

Next will be swapping out the head and cams during the winter.
