Muffler for Good Sound

Post by Fiatbrit »

Hello,

I have an 81 Spider. The muffler makes it sound rather boring and not like a sports car. Is there an economical muffler that sounds good? Did they have a good sound stock? Where can I purchase a good sounding exhaust without spending alot of money? My exhaust system is good and has the cat still installed. Please advise and thank you.

Magnaflow sounds good and is reasonably priced.

cut off muffler, weld on a straight pipe, cost you a few bucks, get you all the sound you're looking for, ask me how I know?

Thanks for the replies. Did the straight pipe sound too loud? I guess there is a muffler in front of it.

Mine came like that and it's loud. I'm actually in the process of adding a cheap universal, I'm pretty sure a straight through will preserve some serious sound when you step on it, but off idle will keep it mellow enough.

Thank you. I will take it off and maybe try a glass pack or straight thru.

Try one of the ANSA exhausts from one of the great Fiat vendors on-line. I know AR sells them and it's a great note, authentic Italian and of course looks real nice!

Performance header 4-2 with 2-1 down pipe (IAP) + straight pipe + high flow MagnaFlow muffler = great sound. Loud, but not too loud.

Hi,

I want to remember seeing Abarth Spider rear sections available recently when searching eBay for "ABARTH" worldwide (I was lucky enough to pick up one of the NOS full Abarth sets available a couple of years ago), or IAP for the ANSA rear.

Ciao,
Mark

The magnaflow rocks, but if you want to listen to beats you'd better have powerful amp.
