Engine conversion to v6
Engine conversion to v6
See a few posts about installing a 4.3 liter engine in the spiders. I just got an '81 without an engine (automatic tranny), so is an opportunity to consider an engine conversion. Also see other import cars from the era with 3.4 liter conversions. Would like some thoughts on the pros / cons of each. The 4.3 post is fabulous (a lot of modifications).

Re: Engine conversion to v6
Although not a Fiat, but a fellow here had an engine conversion in a MG to a Chev 3.4. The amount of money spent on getting it to fit, then the electronics, fuel delivery, upgraded front suspension, upgraded tranny for the extra power and upgraded rear end, upgraded brakes......I could have bought 3 or more real nice Fiat spiders.
My humble opinion would to look into sourcing a 2L Fiat engine and then going to town on that to look for more power. I understand that 150hp at the flywheel is achievable and still great to drive around town.
have fun...

Re: Engine conversion to v6
Instead of a v6 go big or go home and put in a 350 v8 chev. Iput a 300 hp v8 in my Triumph TR6 and the cost was less than $1000 over the cost of the motor and trany.
