wow... THAT is cool!
I'm gonna have to learn more about that....

Hey Dan

Nice to see you have her on the road, did you ever get a correct reading on your oil pressure?

very cool, great acceleration. I think though the tach is just a tad too liberal

I was also wondering about the accuracy of the tach.
No doubt that it is revving well. Just that the road speed relative to the RPM and the sound relative to the tach indication seemed to be a bit out of synch.
It does indeed sound great.
Indpired me to take mine out from under the cover, since it's not raining at the moment, and run all thecob webs out and put the new registration stickers on the plates.

when our ignition system was under development, we had stock tachs tested for compatibility. The closest stock tach we found was 700rpm off from what it was supposed to read. Many were farther off than that. It makes you wonder just how high you're revving that motor

Mark, was ther a pattern? Ex: All read higher RPM's than actual? All read lower RPM's than actual? Or no pattern, all over the map?

700 rpm at what rpm? obviously 700 off at idle would be more than noticable

they all read low and yes some were off 700 at idle. Needle showed 3-400 while the engine was at 1000-1200 in reality

wow, i went and checked the one on my red spider with my digital tach, it was 200rpm low. at idle, but changed thru the range as much as 500 rpm off . i guess factory tachs are an educated guess at rpm :)

Sounds VERY nice bro! I got those cams being ground also to go with the new head. I am going with a bigger single Carb and a different ignition system though. I still need to get a hold of Mark for one of those head gaskets.

I been looking for some aftermarket gauges to replace the OEM but not sure what I will get yet. Havent seen any that are real "Sporty" looking, most look old fashion. Thinking I will go with a BIG Speedo (5" would be cool) and Tach and then the 2 1/16 smaller gauges. Might I say..... that gauge bezel looks real nice! Truly a work of masterful engineering and workmanship. ;)

Question for you, what kind of CFM are/were you trying to achieve with the carbs? Curious what an EFI throttle body would do. There were a few from 2.5 GM. I modified one from a 4.3 GM to fit my 66 Chevy Sport Van on a 250 IL6 and it works sweet. Of course, that is not a performance build like my Spider. I dont want to drowned or starve the motor, I worked through issues with my van but got it to purr like a kitten now. Robing all the parts needed off a late model GM is pretty easy at a pick a part and I have full parts lists of stuff needed to do the swap like I did on my van and would be pretty much the same thing on the Spider just from a different size. I think there were a few 2.2 liter motors with EFI Thottle bodies also that I might look at but would want to know a max/min CFM to be looking for.
